Marumani stars in Rocks win

Rocks teenager Tadiwanashe Marumani scored an eye-catching 60 off just 30 balls, as Logan Cup champions Southern Rocks beat Rhinos by four wickets, in a Zimbabwe Domestic T20 cricket match at Harare Sports Club on Sunday.

Marumani lit up the hallowed stadium with a dazzling display that included eight fours and three sixes.

He punished all manner of bowlers at him, particularly dealing decisively with seamers like Chris Mpofu, Neville Madziva and Carl Mumba. All round hitting from the youngster excited the press box, as well as the fenced off small crowd at the pub overlooking the stadium. By the time he was out caught and bowled by Ryan Burl, Marumani was responsible for two thirds of the team’s total.

After that, there was a period in which wickets fell regularly but Tendai Chisoro ably saw out the innings with his 35 of 19 balls.

Rocks reached 159 for the loss of six wickets with 14 balls to spare.

The ambidextrous Charles Kunje took two for 28 and Ryan Burl one for 23.

Earlier, Burl blasted a 53 off 31 balls as Rhinos made 158 for the loss of five wickets.

Captain Tarisai Musakanda added 38 and while Charles Kunje made 24.

Roy Kaia took two for 19 with Patrick Mambo was one for 16.
