Former tennis world number 1 Maria Sharapova has announced that she failed a drugs test at the recent Austalian Open.
Sharapova was knocked out by finalist Serena Williams.
The Russian, 28, tested positive for meldonium, a substance she has been taking since 2006 for health issues.
She says she did not know that it had become a banned substance as of 1 January 2016.
Sharapova is currently ranked number 7 in the world.
