Zimbabwe put on a disciplined performance but conceded a late penalty to lose 1-0 to Senegal in an African Cup of Nations match in Cameroon.
The Warriors looked to have held their own and with the game almost done, Kelvin Madzongwe was judged to have handled the ball. Sadio Mane scored the penalty and broke Zimbabwe hearts.
This was after the Southern African side had held their own against the number one team in Africa.
Zimbabwe were compact and gave very little to the Senegalese who were forced into wide areas or shots from distance.
And Zimbabwe held their own and created some chances in a match which had few for them.

But it was not to be and what Zimbabwe will have to walk away with from this match is pride in their performance. With the same attitude, they will fancy beating Guinea and Malawi to find their way out of the group stage for the very first time.
There will be worry over captain Knowledge Musona and Kundai Benyu’s injuries. Both had to be stretchered off.
Zimbabwe next take on Malawi on Friday 14 January 2022 at 18.00hrs.
