Wesley Madhevere took three wickets and picked a half century as Zimbabwe under 19 routed Papua New Guinea by ten wickets in a rain affected ICC Uncer 19 Cricket World Cup match on Saturday in Lincoln, New Zealand.
The weather reduced the match to 20 overs but there was still ample time for Zimbabwe to bowl out PNG for just 95.
Madhevere returned 3-19 from four overs.Captain Liam Roche was absolutely miserly as he conceded seven runs from his four overs and grabbed one wicket.
Wicketkeeper Gregory Dollar (41) and Madhevere (53) had an unbroken opening stand and they made light work of tracking down the PNG total to rack up 98 runs in 14 overs.
Coach Stephen Mangongo handed a youth ODI debut to Robert Chiminya.
Next for Zimbabwe is Australia who take on India in the second match of Group B.
Meanwhile holders West Indies fell to hosts New Zealand by eight wickets.
