Tanzania 86 in 19.5 overs (Omari Kitunda 43; Wallace Mubayiwa 3-12, Tashinga Musekiwa 2-10, Takudzwa Chataira 2-10, Trevor Gwandu 2-16)
Zimbabwe 90/6 in 16.3 overs (Clive Madande 42*; Ally Kimote 2-12, Kassim Nassoro 2-32)
Zimbabwe won by four wickets
Zimbabwe laboured to what seemed to be a straightforward win over Tanzania in the second match of the African Games in Ghana on Monday.
Having reduced Tanzania to two for the loss of three, including a maiden wicket for Wallace Mubayiwa, things looked regular from there.
Omary Kitunda had other ideas, as he registered 43, his second-highest score in T20 internationals.
There was little contribution elsewhere, and Tanzania were bowled out for 86, with one ball to go.
Some delight there was for Trevor Gwandu who went for 14 off his first over. He conceded two in the next two overs and even took a brace, which means the next time he bowls, he will be on a hat-trick.
In response, the top-order fluffed their lines, reduced to 15 for the loss of three in their first 3.3 overs.
Captain Clive Madande may as well have been wearing a cape because while the rest struggled around him, he conjured up a masterful 42 off 39. It was just two runs out of his best score, as his side ran out of balls.
The win is what will matter, as it means have qualified for the semi-final, with a game to spare, and now aim to finish top of the group. Their final group match is against Nigeria on Wednesday afternoon.
