LOGAN CUP: Rocks rout Tuskers despite Ervine fightback

Tuskers 159 & 204 after 59.2 overs (Ervine 97, Nyumbu 29*; Chisoro 4-60, Snater 3-49, Raza 2-34)

Southern Rocks 321 & 45/0 in 11 overs (Curran 35, Mudzinganyama 8)

Southern Rocks won by 10 wickets

Southern Rocks made an emphatic return to the Logan Cup with a 10 wicket victory over Tuskers at Harare Sports Club on Friday.

This was in spite of a fightback from Craig Ervine who fell three short of getting the first century of this season’s edition when he fell for 97, after playing one onto teh stumps off Tendi Chisoro.

Indeed it was his end that watched as batsman after the other departed as Chisoro and Sikandar Raza took turns to get rid of players regularly.

Tuskers were eventually dismissed for 204 in 59.2 overs. John Nyumbu was unbeaten on 29.

Chisoro returned four for 60, Snater three for 49 and Raza two for 34.

Ben Curran and Brian Mudzinganyama then opened the batting to chase down a target of 43.

In 11 overs they got to 45, Curran hitting the winning runs with the last ball of it, past the bowler for four. And just as well he did. A few minutes after, the heavens opened up and it started raining.

Curran got 35 off 33 balls, while Mudzinganyama got eight.
