LOGAN CUP: Rhinos’s Chisoro crushes Mountaineers as gutsy Stars deny Eagles

The Midlands Rhinos made light work of table toppers Manicaland Mountaineers, bowling them out for  261 thanks to an 8-94 by Tendai Chisoro in Logan Cup match at Mutare Sports Club on Sunday.

The haul from Chisoro added onto the five he picked in the first innings as the Mountaineers struggled. Bar Donald Tiripano’s fighting 76 and Tendai Chatara’s explosive 46 there was not much to show for the hosts as they succumbed to a massive 206-run loss.

In the other tie,

Ryan Burl, not out with 72, played another fine innings at Takashinga Sports Club on Sunday that saved his team from defeat at the hands of Harare Metropolitan Eagles.

He was assisted by Tony Munyonga, who scored 71, and the loss of 35 minutes’ play due to rain at a critical stage of the match.

Despite their overnight score of 519 for seven wickets and a lead of 411 runs, Eagles decided to continue their innings on the final morning.

And it was that delay that may have cost them victory. A rain interruption included, at the end of play, the Stars had saved the match on 216/7.
