LOGAN CUP RESULT: Masakadza spins Mountaineers to victory inside three days

Wellington Masakadza took four wickets as he helped Mountaineers to a 10-wicket victory over Alliance Health Eagles, on day three of a Logan Cup match at Old Hararians on Tuesday.

His four for 21 from 14.4 overs ensured that Mountaineers only had 19 runs to chase to win the match.

Eagles were 66 for the loss of three overnight with Tinashe Nenhunzi on five, and Tinotenda Mutombodzi, seven. Nenhunzi was the first to go off the bowling of Victor Nyauchi for 15. Mutombodzi followed for 38, falling victim to Clive Chitumba.

With part of the tail having batted earlier, openers Will Fraine and Kudzai Maunze got involved in the middle order. Fraine was Masakadza’s first wicket for 22 and Maunze his last for 36. It meant Masakadza took eight wickets in the match.

Maunze would become the last batter for Eagles as they were bowled out for 165 in 61.4 overs.

Ben Compton and Kevin Kasuza knocked off the total in just 3.2 overs. Compton was the more aggressive of the pair, cracking 13 in as many balls. Kaitano scored six.

Mountaineers now sit on top of the Logan Cup log with two matches left.
