LOGAN CUP: Kunje, Masvaure fifties shore up Rhinos response

Charles Kunje and Prince Masvaure scored half-centuries as Rhinos put on a fist-fight on he second day of a Logan Cup match at Harare Sports Club on Monday.

Having bowled out Tuskers for 347 on Sunday, Masvaure and Takudzwanashe Kaitano kicked off the Rhinos innings. Kaitano did not stick around for long and he was gone for two, out to Ernest Masuku.

Kunje and Masvaure then put together 84 for the second wicket before Masvaure was removed for 52 by Luke Jongwe,.

After that, apart from Remembrance Nyathi, there were little pockets of resistance, with small numbers adding to the total.

Kunje would finally depart for 88.

At the close of play, captain Brandon Mavuta on three and Carl Mumba on 12 were at the crease.

Rhinos are 217 for the loss of seven wickets, still trailing by 130 runs in the first innings.

Veteran John Nyumbu is on three for 57 and Aisnley Ndlovu on two for 52.

Day three is on at the same venue on Tuesday.
