Litton Das out of Zimbabwe tour, two players added to squad

Bangladesh opening batsman Litton Das is out of the current tour of Zimbabwe.

“Litton Das hurt his hamstring while batting in the first ODI. We sent him for a scan during the match,” Muzadded Alpha Sany, Bangladesh physio, said after their five-wicket loss. “He has a grade 2 muscle strain. It takes three to four weeks to recover from this type of injury. So we are not getting Litton [back] during this series.”

Das had to stretchered off off while sitting on 81 and would not make it back onto the field.

Musfiqur Rahim is also a worry after hurting his thumb while batting but is expected to be able to play in the second ODI on Sunday.

Opening batsman Md Naim Sheikh and pacer Ebadot Hossain have been added to the Bangladesh squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe. The players were called up as reinforcements after Nurul Hasan Sohan and Litton Kumer Das were ruled out of series through injuries.

The players will depart from Dhaka later today and reach Harare ahead of the second ODI of the three-match series on Sunday. Bangladesh is trailing 0-1 after going down in Friday’s first game by five wickets.
