Zimbabwe Women High Performance Centre (Zim-W HPC) sealed their place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Kwibuka Women’s T20 with a solid 30-run victory over Malawi Women at the Gahanga International Stadium, Kigali, Rwanda on Thursday.
Batting first after Malawi opted to field, Zim-W HPC posted 125-7 in their 20 overs, anchored by Nyasha Gwanzura’s gritty 34 off 37 balls. While Zimbabwe lost wickets at regular intervals, late cameos from Kelly Ndiraya (17*) and Natasha Mthomba (15) ensured they posted a competitive score on a tricky surface.
Malawi’s bowling effort was led by the outstanding Eva Kabwere, who returned figures of 4/15 in a fiery four-over spell, including two wickets in two balls in the penultimate over.
In reply, Malawi faltered under pressure. Despite early resistance from Sophina Chinawa (21) and Ketrina Chingaipe (18), Zimbabwe’s bowlers remained clinical.
Loryn Phiri (2/17) and Nyasha Gwanzura (2 /11) chipped in with timely breakthroughs as Malawi limped to 95-9 in their full 20 overs.
