Zimbabwean Olympic legend Kirsty Coventry is in the finals of the 200m backstroke after coming fourth in her heat and placed sixth overall in the semi finals held on day 6 in Rio de Janeiro.
Hungary’s Katonka Hosszu leads the pack having clocked 2:06:03. Coventry’s time was 2:08:83 an improvement of her time in the heats.
2012 gold medalist and current record holder Missy Franklin of the US was knocked out as she came 7th in her semi final.
Coventry said on Instagram:

It is the final Olympic race of a glittering career which has seen her rack 7 of the 8 medals Zimbabwe has at all games.
She races in the final on Saturday 3:03am Zimbabwe time.
