Olympic legend Kirsty Coventry has landed one of the two vice president posts in the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee.
She garnered 38 votes and is elected along with Thabani Gonye who got 27. Fredrick Ndlovu with 19 did not make the cut.
It is a good move for Coventry who has won 7 of the 8 medals the country has picked up in its history at the games. It is hoped her successes in the games as a sportsperson will serve the country well as it tries to make sure it is ready to challenge for honours going forward.
Meanwhile Admire Masenda was retained as president picking up 31 votes ahead of Joe Rugwete (9) and Charles Mukaronda (2).
The elections were held in Harare on Sunday.
