Zimbabwe international forward Khama Billiat wants to leave his current club Mamelodi Sundowns, his coach Pitso Mosimane.
He made the revelation to reporters after the Brazilians were knocked out of the MTN8 Cup to a solitary strike from Maritzburg United’s own Zimbabwean Evans Rusike. Billiat started in that match.
Said Mosimane:
Khama is on his last year, and we are trying to renew the contract… If he renews, we love him, he is a good player, but he wants to leave and he doesn’t want to renew … what else can we do? It is his life.
Mosimane did have some optimism even though mostly philosophical:
But we would love him to stay, we want him to stay and I think he will stay. Sundowns are strong. I will be gone and someone else will win the league. So, life goes on
Billiat has not had great form since winning the CAF Champions League in 2016 with Sundowns after which he was nominated among the top three best players in Africa. He has also been blighted by injury on the field as well as being the victim of a robbery earlier this year.
That has not stopped the Brazilians from impressing this season and they are in the semi-final with a good chance of making it to the final.
