16-year-old Kelis Ndhlovu put on a starring performance in Zimbabwe Women’s eight-wicket victory over Papua New Guinea Women in their opening tie of the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier on Sunday.
With PNG opting to bat first, she led the bowling charge, taking thee wickets for 18 from her allotted four overs in dismissing them for 83 in 18.
Nomvelo Sibanda was devastiting up front with three for nine, while the veteran Precious Marange took two for 10.
Tanya Ruma top-scored with 25. The only other PNG player to get to double figures was Naoani Vare with 10.
Chasing, Zimbabwe got 87 for the loss of two wickets with 5.2 overs.
Sharne Mayers top-scored with 33, while Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano contributed with 20, but it was Ndhlovu who carried her bat ending unbeaten with 25.
Zimbabwe’s next match is against Thailand on Tuesday at 13.00hrs, before rounding off the groups stage against UAE on Wednesday at 17.00hrs.
