Bulawayo Braves won by three runs

Innocent Kaia came good for the Bulawayo Braves on Wednesday, carrying his bat through their innings for 52 not out as they edged the Cape Town Samp Army by three runs in their Zim Afro T10 match at Harare Sports Club.

His knock came off 31 balls and included two sixes and four fours, after his team decided to bat first.

Ryan Burl and Sikandar Raza both hit 19 off nine and seven balls respectively, and at the end Beau Webster made 23 not out off eight deliveries to give the Braves a total of 125 for three.

The Samp Army made an excellent start to their chase as Tadiwanashe Marumani and Rahmanullah Gurbaz put on 65 for the first wicket in 4.4 overs, before Gurbaz was out for 45 off 18 balls, with five sixes and three fours.

They needed 16 off the last over, but Marumani was caught at the wicket for 39 off 21 balls and, although Karim Janat hit the last two balls for four, it was not quite enough as the Braves prevailed by three runs.

Harare Hurricanes – 134-2 in 10 overs (Robin Uthappa 53, Regis Chakabva 43, Donovan Ferreira 24*; Azmatullah Omarzai 1/17, Brad Evans 1/27)

Durban Qalandars – 110-2 in 10 overs (Andre Fletcher 50*, Hazratullah Zazai 49, Tim Seifert 8; Luke Jongwe 2/19)

Harare Hurricanes won by 24 runs

The Harare Hurricanes, choosing to bat, took control of this match against the Durban Qalandars with a brilliant opening partnership of 92 in 6.2 overs between Robin Uthappa (53 off 23 balls) and Regis Chakabva (43, also off 23).

Uthappa was first out, to be replaced by Donovan Ferreira, who scored 24 not out off 12 balls to give the Hurricanes the huge total of 134 for two wickets.

The Qalandars did their best and remarkably they also only lost two wickets in their innings, but they did not quite have the extra firepower necessary to take them to victory.

André Fletcher scored a very good 50 not out off 25 balls, but Tim Seifert this time managed only eight, while Hazratullah Zazai made 49 off 28 balls.

They were never quite up with the necessary rate and finished with 110 for two wickets, giving the Hurricanes victory by 24 runs.

Luke Jongwe was the most successful bowler of the match with two wickets for 19 runs.

Johannesburg Buffaloes – 90-1 in 6.5 overs (Mohammad Hafeez 40*, Ravi Bopara 30*, Tom Banton 7; Tom Curran 1/10)

Johannesburg Buffaloes won by nine wickets

Dashing innings from Mohammad Hafeez and Ravi Bopara took the Johannesburg Buffaloes to an easy nine-wicket victory over Cape Town Samp Army.

Apart from their very first over, when Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit Hafeez for 18 runs, the Samp Army innings never got going and they could only score 89 runs for six wickets in their 10 overs.

Zimbabwean bowlers caused the damage, with Blessing Muzarabani taking three wickets for just seven runs in his two overs, while Victor Nyauchi had two for 11.

Sean Williams, once again sent in low at number six, made 15 not out off 17 balls before the innings ended.

When the Buffaloes replied, they lost Tom Banton for seven, but Hafeez (40 not out off 23 balls) and Bopara (30 not out off 11) finished the match with three overs and a ball to spare.
