Zimbabwe handed India their first ever 10 wicket win in Twenty20 internationals in the second match of the Prayag Cup series at the Harare Sports Club on Monday.
The hosts won the toss and chose to bat but were not able to repeat the exploits of the first match.
Only Peter Moor with 31 scored past 20 as the hosts made 99-9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Wickets fell regularly and 28-4 after 5 overs it was back to the clueless Zimbabwe performances that have been the character of this tour. Batsmen gave wickets away cheaply.
For India, debutant Barinder Sran finished with figures of 4-10 off his allotted four overs while Jasprit Bumrah 3-11 made sure Zimbabwe had nothing to defend.
Sran it was who accounted for the first four wickets as Zimbabwe capitulated.
It never looked good for Zimbabwe as Donald Tiripano started with a wide. After that India were largely unbothered bar for two dropped catches, one which was parried over for a six.
Openers KL Rahul and Mandeep Singh (who made his maiden half century) got to the target in 13.1 overs to put the Chevrons out of their misery.
The third and decisive match is on Wednesday. Coaches Makhaya Ntini and Lance Klusener have a lot to do as they try to get some belief back into the squad.
What will be important, especially after this tour is the continued failure with the bat by the senior members of the squad.
There might be a win for Zimbabwe, but not many can see how it will happen.
Tickets are $5 and $2 (general section for this figure) for the final match.
