Zimbabwe’s World Rugby Under 20 Trophy 2023 opening match got to a horror start as they were smashed 64-33 by Scotland in Nairobi, Kenya.
Zimbabwe scored six tries but conceded over 30 runs either side of the break.
It did not help their cause that they received two yellow-cards either side of the break.
In spite of going down 31-00 at the break there was a rally in the second half.
And at some point it was 50-00.
So for head coach Sean De Souza there are some good things to pick off of for the Junior Sables.
Zimbabwe got tries from Edward Sigauke, Shadreck Mandaza, Bryan Chiang, Tawanda Matipano (2), Leo Mutendi. Benoni Nhekairo had three conversions.
Scotland for their part scored their tries through Ben Salmon, Corey Tait, Jerry Blyth-Lafferty, Ben Afshar (2), Eddie Erskine (2), Geordie Gwynn (3).
Zimbabwe next play Uruguay on Wednesday.
