Legendary Zimbabwe fast bowler and former captain Heath Streak is favourite to take the head coach job of the senior men’s team.
He leads the list of four confirmed shortlisted applicants, former Zimbabwe all-rounder Andy Blignaut, South Africans Peter Kirsten (older brother to former Proteas great Gary) and Justin Summers.
The popular Streak is the favourite and is expected to impress in ongoing interviews in Harare. The lion-hearted 42 year-old’s successful spell as specialist bowling coach for Bangladesh recently will weigh heavily in his favour as well as his knowledge of the local game.
He left the Zimbabwe game in 2013 with financial constraints being offered as a reason. With Zimbabwe Cricket keen to get former players involved in the game, Streak will seem an obvious choice.
