Former Tennis Zimbabwe president Paul Chingoka dies

Former Tennis Zimbabwe president Paul Chingoka has died.

The news was made public by the Sports And Recreation Commission in a Facebook post:

It is with a deep sense of shock and sadness that we have just received the news of the passing of our of greatest Sport Administrators in the form of Paul Chingoka former Tennis Zimbabwe President.
Paul was an avid and astute Tennis Administrator of his time passed on today in hospital after being ill for sometime. The entire sporting community will remember him for his sterling work which he did in Tennis, the Olympic Committee and Sport in general.
It was during his era that Zimbabwe scaled to dizzy heights in Tennis Development and even elite levels where we even reached the semi finals of the revered Davis Cup. Also during his tenure as Tennis Zimbabwe President, Tennis flourished in the high density suburbs such as Chitungwiza, Emakhadheni among others.

Although Paul had taken a break from Sport Administration, his immeasurable and immense contribution to sport will forever be cherished. Indeed Paul left an indelible mark in the world of Sport particularly Tennis where the likes of Gwinyai Tongoona, Genius Chidhikwe and others emerged mainly due to his efforts.
On behalf of the Sports and Recreation Commission Board, Management, Staff and indeed on my own behalf I would like to collectively convey our heartfelt condolences to the Chingoka family for the sad loss of a great Sports Administrator par excellence ever to emerge from our great nation, a Father, a dear brother and a beloved one.
We are with you during this dark era, may you take solace in the great works that Paul did his era. May the Lord Almighty comfort you this very difficult moment.
