Five-time Soccer Star of the Year, George ‘Mastermind’ Shaya has died.
Considered one of the greastest footballers to come out of the country, Shaya passed away at his home in Glen Norah A at around 1AM on Tuesday, according to ex-teammate Labani Kandi.
Shaya had been battling diabetes and had his leg amputated in 2020.
He was 74.
He was part of the Rhodesia side which unsuccessfully attempted to qualify for the 1970 FIFA World Cup in 1969.
Shaya was Soccer Star of the year in 1969, 1972, 1975, 1976, 1977, something noone has been able to repeat.
He was thealso Dynamos Chairman when they reached the Champions League final in 1998.
