Eagles won by nine wickets
Tanaka Chivanga took four wickets for 53 runs at Harare Sports Club on Sunday as Eagles bowled Rhinos out for 190 in their second innings and cantered home to an easy victory by nine wickets.
Rhinos began the final day of this Logan Cup match on 39 for two wickets in their second innings, having conceded a first-innings lead of 126.
The best they could hope for was a draw, and more batting as in their first innings of 455 would achieve this easily.
However, only Remembrance Nyathi showed much resolve and a steady fall of wickets saw Rhinos slide slowly towards an avoidable defeat.
The overnight pair consisted of the Glamorgan professional Kiran Carlson on 15 and Ryan Burl on three.
Both failed to follow through on a good start to their innings, Carlson falling for 17 and Burl for 19.
While Nyathi fought it out admirably, his next two partners also reached double figures but little more: Johnathan Campbell went for 13 and Nyasha Mayavo 15.
Chivanga came on for another spell to bowl out Mayavo and then trap Brandon Mavuta lbw without scoring in the same over.
When Nyathi was finally caught by Nick Welch off Tapiwa Mufudza for 45 off 95 balls, Eagles must have known the match was theirs.
Trevor Gwandu played one of the attacking innings he sometimes comes up with for the tail scoring 37 off 47 balls before he was out lbw to Wessly Madhevere.
When Mike Chinouya was the last man out for a stubborn six, Rhinos had been dismissed for a disappointing 190 and Eagles needed only 65 runs for victory.
Chivanga’s four wickets made him the most successful bowler, while Brad Evans and Madhevere took two each.
The opening battters Tinashe Kamunhukamwe and Kudzai Maunze showed what they thought of it by assaulting the bowling for 48 runs in less than seven overs before Campbell removed Kamunhukamwe lbw for 34 off 26 balls, with two sixes and three fours.
Mavuta completed a bad day by opening the bowling and going for 26 runs off two overs.
Two overs later Craig Ervine hit Campbell for the winning four to wrap up the Eagles victory, the score being 68 for one wicket off only nine overs.
Maunze scored 26 and Ervine seven, both not out, and Eagles are on the top of the Logan Cup table with two victories in two matches.

Tuskers won by 76 runs
Southern Rocks went down to Tuskers at Old Hararians Sports Club on Sunday morning by 76 runs with only the guns of William Mashinge and Keith Jaure firing.
Rocks were 119 for six wickets overnight, with Mashinge (12) and Tafadzwa Tsiga (9) the not-out batters.
Tuskers opened their bowling with their left-arm spinners Sean Williams and Ainsley Ndlovu, and Tsiga immediately fell without addition to Ndlovu.
Nigel Mupurura (1) and Priviledge Chesa (2) trusted in defence, which failed them, as both fell to Williams.
Mashinge managed a few good strokes before Ndlovu removed him lbw for 27, scored off 98 balls.
But it was the last man Jaure who played the innings of the day, a nine-ball smash that brought him 27 not out, including a six and five fours.
The last four deliveries he faced were from Ndlovu, and he hit them for a six followed by three fours.
At the other end, though, Chesa was inconsiderate enough to get out, caught off Williams, and the match was over.
Jaure finished as second-top scorer for Rocks, behind Richmond Mutumbami with 36 the previous day.
It was a disappointing display by most of the team, who were quite unable to challenge their moderate target of 242 for victory.
Williams finished with six wickets for 47 runs, giving him match figures of 11 for 140, while Ndlovu took three for 56 in the innings.
