Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is heading to Harare after he was named on Monday
in India’s team set to tour Zimbabwe next month for limited-overs series.
However, arguably one of the best batsmen in the world right now Viraht Kohli will not make this trip and will be rested. He is currently starring in Indian Premier League with his side Royal Challengers Bangalore where he is playing through the pain after suffering a split webbing.
Also rested are Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Hardik Pandya and Umesh Yadav. Opener Murali Viajy is out due to injury meaning it gives Indian selectors the chance to blood in some new players.
Someone we are keen to see is KL Rahul who has starred with the bat for the RCB in the IPL. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is the current top wicket taker in this season’s IPL.
Zimbabwe will host India from the 8th to the 23rd of June, for a tour that will have three One-Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches.
The first ODI match is scheduled for the 11th, the second will be on the 13th and the third on the 15th. The T20I matches are set for the 18th, 20th and 22nd.
Zimbabwe will announce their team for the series in due course.
