Vanuatu Women 62-4 in 16.3 overs (Navaika 20*, Natiagu 13; Audrey Mazvishaya 2/9, Kelis Ndhlovu 1/10)

Vanuatu won by 6 wickets

Vanuatu Women picked up a famous win over Zimbabwe Women in their debut match at the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

The South Pacific island side came into the tournament ranked lowest, with little fanfare, and for many just happy to be there.

But with pride in their sails, they dismissed their full member opponents for a miserly 61.

Zimbabwe opted to bat first and with stunning regularity, played poor shots to get themselves out.

Most of their shots were aggressive giving little to no respect to the surface and the deliveries. It was a surface, which if Zimbabwe were watchful could have gotten the to 90 or 100 runs.

But hey weren’t.

Four players recorded ducks, three got to double figures.

Vanuatu respected the surface, played it much better and chased down the total with 21 balls to spare.

A nightmare start for Zimbabwe.

A famous one for Vanuatu.
