De Bruyn masterclass outshines Myers, Marumani efforts

Theunis de Bruyn blasted an unbeaten 113, as South Africa A beat Zimbabwe A, in the first one-dayer at Harare Sports Club, on Saturday.

It was a masterful innings, in which he hit seven fours and six sixes, in an innings where he faced 64 balls.

He built on the platform created by Janneman Malan (82), Reeza Hendicks (52) and captain Zubayr Hamza (49), as SA-A chased down the target of 320 target, for the loss of four wickets, in just 42.5 overs.

Spinner, Tapiwa Mufudza took all four wickets, although he was expensive, conceding 87 runs in his 10 overs.

Earlier, Zimbabwe A, having been put in, posted 319 for the loss of nine wickets, from their allotted 50 overs.

2020 Under-19 World Cup stars Dion Myers and Tadiwanashe Marumani, shone with the bat, as they made 96 and 84 respectively. They had a partnership of 80 for the fourth wicket, the second highest in the Zimbabwe innings. The highest was between Myers and Roy Kaia, which yielded 106 runs.

Chamu Chibhabha chipped in with 37, Milton Shumba 30 and Kaia 28.

Dwaine Pretorius was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 39 runs, with Lutho Sipamla three for 40.

The next match is on Monday, at the same venue.
