Zimbabwe reached a score of 248/9 from day 1’s 89 overs at Harare Sports Club on Saturday.
Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat and looked in a lot of trouble early on but a 45 from birthday boy Hamilton Masakadza and a 93 from captain Brendan Taylor plus useful innings from Sean Williams and Tatenda Chatara helped the hosts.
There were about four decisions on the day that were a bit average especially for the dismissals of Williams and Chatara who were given out caught behind even though there appeared to be no nick.
Play resumes on Sunday at 10am local time.
