Tanaka Chivanga produced a dazzling spell of bowling as his Eagles side beat Southern Rocks via the 1-over eliminator in a Zimbabwe Domestic T20 cricket match at Old Haririans on Wednesday.
Rocks looked to be running off with the game, when they needed three runs from their final six balls. Chivanga conceded two runs, while three wickets fell, two to run-outs and one trapped leg before.
Then it went to a super over. Chivanga returned to restrict Cephas Zhuwao and Tadiwanashe Marumani to six, while grabbing the wicket of Zhuwao.
Facing Blessing Muzarabani, Regis Chakabva needed just three balls to hit a two followed by a six to clinch an unlikely win for Eagles.
The win means Eagles are through to the final on Friday morning, while Rocks, barring a miracle, have to play the third and fourth place playoff on the morning of the same day.
Earlier, Zimbabwe limited overs captain Chamu Chibhabha carried as he finally put significant runs on the board, scoring 73 off 63 balls which included seven fours and two sixes. Wessly Madhevere made 35 off 23 balls.
Trevor Mutsamba took one for 13, William Mashinge one for 15, while Muzarabani was one for 27.
Eagles made 163 for the loss of three wickets.
The Rocks response was powerful up front. Zhuwao made 50 off 29 and Marumani 52 off 35. Only the wicket of Brian Mudzinganyama for four was the blot.
After the two who made half-centuries, only Roy Kaia (22) and William Mashinge (25) made significant runs.
Tapiwa Mufudza took three for 36, Richard Ngarava one for 18 and Chivanga one for 38.
