Chicken Inn have been crowned the champions of Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after beating Harare City 3-1 at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo.
In what was the penultimate game of the season, the Gamecocks needed to win their match and for Caps United to take something off FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium.
And that they did although Harare City played poorly as they failed to convert glaring chances and conceding silly goals.
With one game to go, and four points ahead Chicken Inn can now celebrate being champions for the first time.
Coach Joey Antipas
I’m chuffed and I just want to go and celebrate with the players.
The key throughout the season has been our unity and I am proud. From the first game they believed it was their season and look at them now.
After four years with the title belonging to the Glamour Boys it is a relief to see someone else have a go.
And just a thought for the late Adam Ndlovu who built this side and now they are champions.
