Opener Chamunorwa Chibabha staged a return to some form as he came away from the Zimbabwe A’s one day series against Namibia this past week.
Chibhabha who has been in the wilderness when it comes to first team opportunities was top scorer with 250 runs in four matches which included a century (that 110 was the highest individual score on the tour) and a fifty. He averaged 62.50 and while it was against weaker opposition he will feel he has given selectors something to think about when it comes to the opening position in the main squad.
One of the men who currently occupies that spot Peter Moor increased his reputation with two fifties and his ability to protect his wicket. His strike rate of 109.27 as he amassed 212 runs in four matches will stand him in good stead. His inability to convert to hundreds will be a concern.
Moor also ddid very well keeping behind the stumps taking part in 9 dismissals.in the three matches he was the gloveman.
A special mention in the batting department can be made for Innocent Kaia whose 101 in the final match.
In the bowling department, Wellington Masakadza, Tendai Chatara and Nathan Waller got seven wickets each. Donald Tiripano and interestingly Sikandar Raza grabbed 6 each.
Chatara was also great for his economy of 2.76, the lowest by Zimbabwe A.
With Canada A visiting later this month it will be interesting what players will be given game time.
