Former Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor helped his Nottinghamshire Outlaws side clinch their first ever Royal London One Day Cup with four wicket victory over Surrey at Lord’s on the weekend.

The star of the final was Alex Hales who scored a flawless unbeaten 187 as Notts chased 298 to win with 13 balls to spare. The England opener made the highest individual one-day score at Lord’s off just 167 balls.

In that match Taylor made just 10 but it was his form in the quarter and semi finals that helped his side to the tile.

His 154 off 97 balls in the quarter final against Somerset in the quarter finals helped Notts set up a 24 run win defending 429 from their allotted 50 overs.

In the semi-finals Taylor scored 62 in a 100-run partnership with Samit Patel (122) to pick up a five wicket win over Essex.

In a dramatic twist Notts were presented with the wrong winners medals when they lifted the cup. However they were swopped later that evening.
