Brendan Taylor announces retirement from international cricket

Zimbabwe cricketing legend Brendan Taylor has announced his retired from international cricket.

Via an Instagram post, Taylor, 36, announced that the match against Ireland on Monday would be his last for Zimbabwe.

in his graceful post, Taylor said his mission was to make sure the qteam was in a better position than when he started.

“I hope I have done that,” he said.

Taylor is the highest in terms of centuries with 17 across all formats. He also is second I’m terms of career runs in ODIs for Zimbabwe and third across all formats.

There are rumours that more might leave. Test Captain Sean Williams reportedly wanted to quit but may have withdrawn his position after his position. The reason is not clear but a lot has transpired after the recent board meeting which singled out senior players for poor results. There also seems to be a push for younger players in the T20 format.

Whatever it is, Taylor is a player who deserves to leave on his own terms after his service to the Country.

Zimbabwe Cricket has not commented yet on Taylor’s announcement.
