Botswana picked up a point against an unflattering, disjointed Zimbabwe performance in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Harare’s National Sports Stadium on Friday evening.
On a pitch affected by rain, Zimbabwe’s passing game was nullified and their continued failure to employ the wings left them short.
Captain Knowledge Musona who played the full 90 minutes looked a man playing his first competitive match of the season, listless, largely off-pace, with the first touch of a teenage crook pretending to a professional.
And yet, it was a match in which the big guns came back. The celebrated Marvelous Nakamba was metronomic while Knox Mutizwa battled for the scraps offered from midfield.

When the chances came, Ronald Pfumbidzai in the second half, in particular, they were wasted. The half-chances were too far. On the whole, the final ball was poor.
And with Algeria winning 5-0 at home to Zambia, Zimbabwe are in a fix when it comes to this group.
They need a win against Zambia on Tuesday or else, might as well start planning for 2023.
