BAD NEWS: Sri Lanka replace suspended Zimbabwe for India tour

India have moved to replace suspended Zimbabwe with Sri Lanka for a T20I tour set for January 2020.

Zimbabwe were suspended from ICC events but could still take part in bi-lateral tours pending a review of their full member status on 12 October 2019.

The Southern African nation fell foul of the ICC regulations which specifically forbid government interference after the country’s Sports and Recreation Commission suspended the elected Tavengwa Mkhuhlani-led Zimbabwe Cricket board.

The board has since been reinstated and it is curious that India has made this decision.

Zimbabwe have already lost out on the women’s and men’s T20 World Cup qualifier, the women’s tour of Ireland and Netherlands not to mention the access to ICC funds which have been frozen pending resolution of the issue.

As it stands for the national team, it looks a bit bleak as they had no cricket scheduled until the India tour. It will be a while until they can get a game unless someone feels sorry for them and slots them in somewhere.

A proper cluster-f?k.

A statement says… Don’t talk yourself out of tables you have a right to be on.

Sadly Zimbabwe was not listening.
