AUDIO: It is time for Taylor to set the record straight about why he has not been picked – ZC

Zimbabwe Cricket interim convener of selectors Walter Chawaguta has challenged star batsman Brendan Taylor to set the record straight on why he has not been picked for the tri-series triangular involving Australia and Pakistan set for Harare Sports Club from this Sunday.

Responding to a question from the press over the senior players missing from the side chosen Chawaguta said it was time to set the record straight.

He mentioned that players like Taylor, former captain Graeme Cremer and Sean Williams had told Chawaguta that they were not available for selection until their issues were resolved.

I have got records. The issue here is they are not available. They did not make themselves available.

Chawaguta goes onto say, that the affected players were in an original 48-man pool that whittled down to 30 for the warm-triangular series.

He said after speaking to the players they made themselves unavailable.

Chawaguta added that he had spoken to Taylor about the issue and urged him to set the record straight on selection issues:

I had a word with Brendan Taylor yesterday and I said to him, “It’s time that you set the record straight” and hopefully he will set the record straight because the fact of the matter is they were approached after not availing themselves for the selection process we had put in place and they made themselves not available.
