ANOTHER ONE: Sharne Mayers gets Fairbreak Invitational call

Opening-batter Sharne Mayers is the fourth Zimbabwe Women player to get called for the prestigious Fairbreak Global Invitational T20 tournament for its third edition.

Captain Mary-Anne Musonda has already played in the first two edition.

On Frida, teenage sensation Kelis Ndhlovu and seam bowler Nomvelo Sibanda were named as having been invited to the six-team tournament.

Now Mayers who is the third-highest run-scorer for Zimbabwe in Women’s T20 internationals gets a chance to play. She has the highest average by a distance.

The edition will be held in the USA from 16 to 30 September 2023.

It is the start of the ICC-sanctioned tournament being played twice a year, with 90 players from 16 countries.
