Anesu Mushangwe returns as Zimbabwe Women gear up for Namibia tri-series

Namibian batsman Maryke Short looses her wicket in action during a World Cup Cricket Qualifier Final match played with Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club in Harare, May 12 2019.

Zimbabwe Cricket Women will be travelling to Namibia for a tri-series with Namibia and Uganda from the 19th to the 27th of April.

They will therefore have the Women`s T20 Regional Games on the 7th (two games, morning and afternoon) and 8th of April afternoon game. The games be will used as basis for selection for the travelling squad to Namibia.

The big news is the return of Anesu Mushangwe to the fold. The record wicket-taker in T20s for Zimbabwe makes her return to the fold for the first time since 2019, after which she was holed up in Australia.

South Africa-based Sharne Mayers also returns. She did play for Zimbabwe in the ill-fated Women’s World Cup Qualifier last year.

There will also be an opportunity to see the likes of Olinda Chare, Mitchell Mavunga and Kellies Ndlovu who were impressive in domestic action this season.

Absent though is Tasmeen Granger.

The matches will take place at Old Hararians Sports Club. The morning match will be at 09.30hrs and the afternoon match at 13.30hrs.

After these games, the selected players will then remain in camp until the tour to Namibia.
