All set for Women’s T20 Cup and Fifty50 Challenge finals

All is set for a double header weekend of finals this weekend as the Zimbabwe Cricket Women’s domestic season comes to close.

Sunrise Sports Club in Harare will host both the Women’s T20 Cup and Fifty50 Challenge on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

First, Eagles Women, who are the defending T20 champions will take on Mountaineers Women on Saturday.

The Mountaineers finished the round robin stage with five wins and one loss. They have been buoyed by Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano who scored 271 runs at an average of 90.33. She had a highest score of an unbeaten 92. Francesca Chipare lead the bowling charge with eight wickets.

For Eagles, their teenage sensation Kelis Ndhlovu will be the highlight, with 195 runs. They also have Precious Marange who has nine wickets.

The match starts at 10am.

On Sunday, the Eagles will turn their attention to Rhinos Women. Both teams finished on 40 points after winning four and losing two.

Ashley Ndiraya leads the runs for Rhinos (and overall) with 246 runs, with captain Josephine Nkomo not far behind with 196. Nomattaer Mutasa Ziyambi has 15 wickets and leads the overall standings.

Rhinos will be without Mary-Anne Musonda, who is in Ireland playing the Women’s Super Series.

Modester Mupachikwa (188) and Ndhlovu (187) are the leading lights with the bat for Eagles. Ndhlovu has 14 wickets, with Marange on 130.

That final starts at 9.30am
