Africa to co-host the 2030 Fifa World Cup

The 2030 Fifa World Cup has been announced and it is one of the most ambitious undertakings.

That is because it will take place on three continents, Africa, Europe and South America.

The 2030 World Cup will take place in Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, however the tournament’s first three games will be held in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay.

With this, Morocco will become the second African country to host a Fifa World Cup, after South Africa’s successful 2010 edition,

About the first three matches, Fifa says, “Having taken into account the historical context of the first-ever FIFA World Cup , the FIFA Council further unanimously agreed to host a unique centenary celebration ceremony in Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo, where the first ever FIFA World Cup took place in 1930, as well as three World Cup matches in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay respectively.”

The FIFA Council also approved the appointment of FIFA Deputy Secretary General – Football, Mattias Grafström, as FIFA Secretary General ad interim with immediate effect, replacing Fatma Samba Diouf Samoura who retired.
