Advantage Zimbabwe As Mutuma Brace Sinks Lesotho

Rodrick Mutuma scored twice as Zimbabwe beat Lesotho 3-1 in an African Nations Championship qualifier first leg match at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

Mutuma was a controversial pick by coach Kallisto Pasuwa but the eccentric Dynamos forward paid his coach’s faith in full with two goals, one of them a penalty early in the second half.

It did get a bit squeaky-bum when Lesotho grabbed an away goal through Tsepo Seturumane.

Captain Danny Phiri then gave the Warriors breathing space with cracker from a Knox Mutizwa pass. The impressive Mutizwa was involved in all three goals.

Zimbabwe were wasteful in front of goal and will kick themselves for not putting the match beyond doubt but Pasuwa will be happy all the same.

Bar a disaster in Maseru next week, Zimbabwe can start booking a ticket for Rwanda for the CHAN finals.

The tournament will be held in Rwanda between 16 January and 7 February 2016.
