Aromantic is an orientation. Check out the signs because it might be you!

So we were having a look at an article somewhere about British director Michaela Coel.

Now having just come across, we decided to Google her and along with her work we came across the fact that she is aromantic.

And just like us she found out about it on Google. In a 2018 interview she said as much.

“I googled aromanticism and I very much felt like, ‘Oh, that’s me,’” Coel said. “Which means if you tell me to dress up nicely because we’re going to go to a dinner with candles, it’s not going to mean a lot to me. It’s a waste of money and I have ingredients at home. Things like weddings and the expense of these things — I would rather settle for the rest of my life with a person.”

So what is aromanticism?

First of all, it is not about sex.

So aromantic people feel little or no romantic attraction to people. That is they do not have a desire to have a romantic relationship with someone.

But here is where it can get crazy.

Some aromantic people do enter into romantic relationships without feeling romantic attraction to the person with whom they are in it.

But about the sex, yeah they can be into it so it is different from asexual where they can’t even imagine lust.

But what are the signs of being aromantic?

Well here are some;

  • You can’t imagine being romantically attracted to someone
  • You can’t even imagine what being in love is like
  • You can’t relate to other people talking about their romantic situations
  • You are neutral or even put off by the idea of being romantically attracted to someone.
  • You’ve never had a crush on anyone
  • You get in a relationship not because you want one but because it is what is expected
  • You can get into a relationship for something else (such as sexual attraction) but not the romance

There are a few other signs but these should fill you up a bit.

So we are guessing in the week that is the run-up to the much-vaunted Valentine’s Day, romance is weird.
