People break up and make up a lot of the times.

And it is the making up that takes a lot because sometimes it comes after a massive betrayal. And yes, that could include cheating.

So today, we have three questions we want you to ask before you take him back. They are of course not exhaustive.

Here we go:

How much work needs doing?

A key component about getting back together is the repair work. If the list is long, you have to ask whether the work is worth doing. If there is a lot to do on his part, think about it. You do not want to get to an impasse.

Can you forgive him for what he did?

This probably should have been number one, but it is key. You can’t slide it under the bed and forget about it. Forgiving means that you move past it and it will not hang over it. This means you have to talk openly about it in a calm demeanour. Find out if he understands what he did and explain how it affected you. Does he get it? And has he learned from it?

Can you respect him again?

Respect is a key component in a relationship. You have to ask yourself if you can get back to a time when you could respect him again. That needs rebuilding and you will need to be patient with not just him, but yourself too.
