Zupco standard fare goes up

Zupco has increased its standard rate bus fare.

The new charge goes up from 50c to $1 with effect from 1 October 2019.

The announcement was made by the Minjstry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting services on Friday.

The urban based service was introduced earlier this year to offer the public an alternative to the much more expensive commuter omnibus system.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced that more buses will be made available for the service in order to serve routes that currently do not have coverage.
