Zimbabwe and South Africa were among 35 countries which abstained from a United Nations vote condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
15 countries from Africa abstained along with India, China, Iran and Iraq among others.
Five countries voted against the vote. These were Russia, Syria, North Korea, Eritrea and Belarus voted against it.
The for votes counted to 141 with the likes of Nigeria, DRC, Ghana, Malawi and Kenya among them.
The vote is non-binding.
Last week a UN Security Council vote was vetoed by Russia.
