The Zimbabwe government has allowed the import of cement via free funds after a surge in the price of cement over the last few months.
A bag of cement has gone from USD9 to USD20 in just two months.
“The nation is advised that following reports of artificial cement shortage in the market and the spiraling prices Cabinet has approved the importation of cement by individuals and companies with free funds,” said Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere.
This was at a post-cabinet briefing on Tuesday in Harare.
