For Zimbabwe international striker Adam Ndlovu has died in a horror crash, while his brother Peter is said to be in a critical condition.
According to reports Adam was driving Peter’s BMW X5 vehicle when it burst a tyre and veered off the road early Sunday morning. A yet to be identified woman travelling with the two also died in the crash.
At the time of his death Adam was coach of Chicken Inn while Peter is the under-23 coach.
The three were on their way from Victoria Falls where they were taking part in a Highlanders legend match. The accident took place near the Falls airport.
It’s a dark day for Zimbabwean football. Our prayers are with the Ndlovu family who have served the country with distinction especially during the Dream team era under Reinhard Fabisch.
Sports minister David Coltart tweeted his shock:
I am very sorry to hear of the death of Adam Ndlovu and the injury of Peter Ndlovu. Condolences to the family and I wish Peter a speedy recovery.
Former South African striker Shaun Bartlett wrote:
Once again saddened by the news of the passing of a dear friend Adam Ndlovu. Had a very successful time with him at FC Zurich in switzerland
We are truly sad.
UPDATE: Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has released a statement on twitter following the death of Adam:
I am saddened at the passing on of Adam Ndlovu & injury of Peter. My prayers are with the Ndlovu family. I wish Peter a speedy recovery.
