Zimbabwe is among seven nations who want to be part of the powerful BRICS economic bloc, according to watcher.guru.

Harare has been public about its intention of being a member of the growing grouping.

Other countries keen on joining before the 16th summit in October are Cameroon, Pakustan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Venezuela.

China and Russia are agitating for the expansion but India is not quite as enthused.

According to the same website, New Delhi wants to space admission by five years, meaning those seven countries would only have a shot at doing so in 2028.

China and Russia’s reasons are pretty clear. They want an expansion to take on the US dollar and US foreign policies.

A delay could see a shift in geo-politics and those countries could elect governments sympathetic to the West, as seen in Argentina’s move to the right.
