Zim Police Finally Told To Stop Harassing Women At Night

The Constitutional Court has nixed that stupid rule which saw women arrested and locked up if found walking at night.

For the longest time, women had de facto curfews, not being able to walk about freely for fear of arrest, accused of selling sex.

The new ruling according The Herald the police will only be able to act if there is evidence of a man who they have solicited.

Which remains a bit murky because a fella and the girl he is walking home can still get arrested because the copper will simply accuse them of being a couple for the night.

Of course we expect as is common cause with these things for some cops to either actively resist this because fit was a source of bribes for the errant ones.

It is progress though. That the difference between being able to walk freely at night in the avenues, thirty-five years after independence was down to whether you had a penis or a vagina, was a disgrace.
