A United States court sentenced a Zimbabwean man to 120 years in jail for intentionally infecting four women with HIV.
36 year-old Derick Nhekairo was living illegally in Texas since 2000 on an expired students visa.
He is said to have slept with 18 women and told one of them that he was an HIV carrier. Nhekairo was arrested 6 July, 2012, on a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Charges had been filed in October, 2011.
The woman who filed the complaint says she was infected when they had a sexual relationship between June and September 2008. She said Nhekairo failed to disclose his status to her resulting in necessary safety precautions being taken.
