ZBC Boss’s Obscene $40,000 Per Month Package

Reports have made their way of suspended Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation CEO Happison Muchechetere’s package, a whooping $40,000 a month at the broke state institution.

It is as below:

Salary: US$27 000 per month
Housing allowance: US$3 500 per month
Domestic workers’ salaries: US$2 500 per month
Entertainment allowance: US$3 000 per month
General allowance: US$3 000 per month
Fuel allocation: Unlimited
Vacation: Five business class air tickets annually, three regional business class air tickets annually and unlimited local air travel
Additional package: ZBC servicing his mortgage, constructing an entertainment centre at his house and constructing a security wall

Now of course $40,000 is the cash aspect and does not include all the other benefits that easily take the figure past the $50k mark. This is after all at a time when workers have gone for more than 6 months without pay and the institution itself is failing to pay artist royalties.

It’s obscene. It’s weird. It’s incredible.
