Zambia Radio Stations Boycott SA Music – Reports

Reports coming out of Zambia seem to indicate that private radio stations have stopped playing South African music in response to xenophobic attacks in KwaZulu Natal and parts of Gauteng.

One station, KFM says it will not play SA music as an expression of its disappointment and displeasure with South Africa.

So far Kelly Khumalo, Brickz and Big Nuz have had shows cancelled as reaction to the attacks on foreign African nationals in SA as the hostilities escalate.

Mozambique has already closed its border with SA and nationals from the latter country working for Sasol have been repatriated as home countries for the affected reacted strongly.

Zimbabwe has already started bringing a lot of its people home. A petition was handed by activists to South Africa’s ambassador to Zimbabwe on Friday in spite of a police ban on the demonstration.

The feeling is that that the SA government has not done enough to protect vulnerable Africans in its country’s borders.

With many now leaving the country, we suppose xenophobia won.

6 people (2 of them Zimbabwean) have died in the attacks.
